Pain Diagnostics and Interventional care
Dr. David Provenzano is President of Pain Diagnostics and Interventional Care, where he leads a team focused on innovative, evidence-based pain management. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff at Western PA Surgery Center and the Quality Assurance Committees for Heritage Valley Healthcare Network CIN/ACO.
Dr. Provenzano earned his undergraduate degree from Colgate University, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and completed medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He undertook a surgical internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, a residency in anesthesiology at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, and a Pain Management Fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
He is recognized with multiple awards for academic and clinical achievements, including the 2024 North American Neuromodulation Society Presidential Award and the ESRA-Spain Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Provenzano has published over 100 scientific articles and has been principal investigator on numerous research studies. His research focuses on neuromodulation, radiofrequency lesioning, ultrasound, and healthcare safety, with his work receiving Best of Meeting Awards at national and international conferences such as ASRA Pain Medicine, Networking World Anesthesia Convention, and ESRA-Spain.
He has contributed as an author to major guidelines on infection control in pain procedures, radiofrequency ablation, corticosteroid use, spinal stenosis interventions, and spinal cord stimulation. Dr. Provenzano lectures frequently at international and national meetings on acute and chronic pain management.
He is Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Department of Anesthesia – Pain Medicine Fellowship and Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Duquesne University’s Department of Physician Assistant Rangos School of Health Sciences. Dr. Provenzano serves on the Board of Directors of ASRA Pain Medicine, is the organization's AMA House of Delegates Representative, co-chairs the North American Neuromodulation Society Advocacy and Policy Committee and is on the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
