Charles Wendt is a second-year medical student at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) with research interests in rehabilitation following injury and in healthy aging. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Biomedical Science. During his undergraduate career, he gained proficiency in translational nerve conduction study assessment and contributed to research spanning spinal cord injuries, ALS, myotonic dystrophy, pharmaceutical exercise adjuncts, immobilization syndrome, and age-related neuromuscular decline.
Charles' professional aim is to pursue a clinical career in PM&R to prolong healthspan and maximize independence in patients. He participated in the Rehabilitation Research Experience for Medical Students (RREMS) program this past summer, conducting research at Dr. W. David Arnold’s laboratory at the University of Missouri. His translational project focused on enhancing the efficacy of resistance exercise in aging populations to combat age-related declines in motor function.
