Division Chief, Spine Care and Pain Management
Harvard University
I am a specialist in non-operative management of degenerative spinal disorders with a dual focus on clinical excellence and academic scholarship. As an interventional spine and pain physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, I work across several Harvard-affiliated institutions, including Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital. I also serve as the Endowed Chair of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where I help guide departmental vision, academic advancement, and clinical program development. Teaching Harvard Medical Students and PM&R Residents remains a core commitment through lectures, clinical training, and hands-on instruction in spine diagnosis and treatment.
My academic contributions include authoring review articles and book chapters, leading clinical research, and helping develop the Spine Service Line at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Mass General. I am a founding member of an interdisciplinary research group focused on facet osteoarthritis, bringing together rheumatologists, radiologists, spine surgeons, and investigators. Since its establishment in 2022, this group has published multiple papers in Spine examining inflammatory pathways and degenerative spine pathology.
Clinically, I maintain a high-volume practice that draws patients nationally and internationally. I serve as Medical Director of the Brigham Comprehensive Spine Care Center, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate surgical and non-surgical care. Concurrently, I am Division Chief for Spine Care and Pain Management at Spaulding Rehabilitation, where I lead 15 interventional physiatrists and oversee clinical, administrative, and research initiatives. From 2022 to 2024, I served as Spaulding’s President of the Medical Staff. I also helped develop the Functional Integrative Rehabilitation (FINER) Program, which blends pain neuroscience education, exercise and nutrition guidance, and group medical visits to support patients with refractory pain.
