Grady Paden is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and of the American College of Physicians. As Distinguished Faculty for VitalTalk, the gold standard in serious illness communication training, he teaches serious illness communication skills to clinicians in health care institutions nationally and internationally. As an attending physician in Palliative Care and Medicine at VA Puget Sound he provides palliative care consultation for patients and families, as well as providing Internal Medicine and Geriatric care to patients in outpatient and inpatient settings. As an educator he provides Palliative Care and Internal Medicine education for trainees from all disciplines and levels. Other professional interests include medical ethics. He enjoys outdoor pursuits, including any type of skiing, backpacking, and swimming.
