Joseph Yap is a Second-Year Medical Student at the University of Pittsburgh heavily interested in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and hopes to develop a career in traumatic and aquired brain injury rehabilitation. After graduating from Boston University majoring in Human and Exercise Physiology, he spent two years working at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a Research Assistant in the Department of MRI Research, and focused much of his efforts to his community while volunteering as a cook at a local soup kitchen. Joseph works heavily in the field of social medicine, serving as a social medicine fellow partnered with the city of Braddock, where he teaches teens in a food desert how to make and prepare nutritious meals using local ingredients. Additionally, he started and runs the OCA free clinic, which centers on providing comprehensive care and screening to Chinese-speaking patients in the greater Pittsburgh area.
