GME Institutional Coordinator

Aurea Baez-Martinez, BA, MS, C-TAGME is an experienced leader in graduate medical education (GME), originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico. She began her GME career in 2008 at Hospital Episcopal San Lucas, now known as Centro Medico Episcopal San Lucas, where she advanced from Program Secretary to Program Coordinator for the Pediatric Residency Program.
In 2017, Aurea and her family relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, where she joined the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) as an Academic Program Coordinator. She now serves as the GME Institutional Coordinator for UNT Health Fort Worth/TCOM, supporting excellence across affiliated residency programs.
She holds a BA in Office Systems Management from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico and an MS in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctorate in Education in Healthcare Communication and Leadership from Louisiana State University-Shreveport (LSUS). Aurea earned her C-TAGME certification in 2019 and is a certified MBTI Step 1 educator since 2021. She is also part of coordinator-centered initiatives, like the Academy for Program Coordinators, contributes to the establishment of the first National Association for GME Institutional Coordinator, currently known as the GME Network, working alongside coordinators from across the country, and has been selected to be part of ACGME's Coordinator Advisory Group for the 2026-2029 term.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and all things Star Wars—especially the wisdom of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda: “May the Force be with you.”
