Jean-Luc Banks, MD is a fourth year resident, clinician-educator, and researcher in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UPMC with a focus on disability justice, interprofessional education, and inclusive health care training. Their scholarly work centers on integrating the lived experiences of people with disabilities into health professions education, using qualitative research to inform curriculum design and learning objectives. Dr. Banks has been involved in the development and longitudinal delivery of innovative educational initiatives, including interprofessional courses grounded in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) principles. They are particularly interested in active learning strategies, curriculum development, and improving health care systems for people with disabilities through education and advocacy.
