Rajit Banerjee, MD, is a PGY-4 PM&R resident physician at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). He holds a background in biomedical engineering and has received research training at the National Institutes of Health, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL). His clinical interests focus on sports medicine—particularly adaptive athletics, swimming, and football. As a member of AAP's Rehabilitation Medicine Scientist Training Program (RMSTP), he is dedicated to advancing academic physiatry by exploring the intersection of neuroscience, biomechanics, and activity-based medicine. His work aims to translate movement science and engineering into meaningful recovery, bridging scientific discovery and clinical care as an aspiring team physician and clinician-scientist. His commitment to sports medicine has been nationally recognized through the Resident Scholarship Award from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). He will be an incoming Sports Medicine Fellow at UPenn Medicine.
