Resident Physician
University of Colorado
Dr. Haylee Yepson is a resident physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Colorado. She is an emerging leader within her department, recognized with both the inaugural Rehabilitation Humanism Award and the Early Leadership Award. Prior to her residency, Dr. Yepson served as a distinguished Naval Officer and Flight Surgeon in the United States Navy, with her exceptional military service earning her the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. She is a fierce advocate for expanding access to international rehabilitation through education and system development. At the University of Colorado, she founded both the Medical Education Track and the Global Health Track for the PM&R residency program. Internationally, she created and launched the Eastern African Month Rehab Lecture Series, providing monthly virtual education to multidisciplinary participants across Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. Dr. Yepson has significantly advanced rehabilitation capacity in Tanzania by co-creating the "Partners in Rehab" Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Curriculum, an asynchronous platform designed to provide dedicated education to Tanzanian physiotherapists on the nuances of SCI care throughout the continuum. Additionally, she worked closely with the International Rehabilitation Forum to enroll the first Tanzanian physician in the African PM&R fellowship, who, upon completion of the two-year training, will become the country's first physiatrist.
